A variance is a request for relief from a requirement of the Land management Regulations Ordinance. An appeal is a challenge to the Development Official’s interpretation of the land Management Regulations Ordinance. The Aiken County Board of Appeals hears both requests for variances and requests for appeals.
A variance or appeal may be requested by completing an application. Application forms can be obtained from the Planning & Development Department. Completed applications should be submitted to the Planning & Development Department along with a non-refundable administrative fee 30 days prior to a scheduled meeting of the Board of Appeals. The Board of Appeals meets on the second Thursday of the month at 6:30 PM.
